Hi!

I'm Alison, a yoga instructor, lifestyle blogger and Long Beach native, living in Southern California with my husband Chris and German Shepard, Zeus.

This blog has been a space to share my adventures in fitness, food, travel and more as I’ve lived in San Luis Obispo, San Francisco, and now Orange County. I hope that my posts help inspire you to live your happiest and healthiest life!

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to say hi over on my Contact page :)

How We Found Out

How We Found Out

Chris and I both knew that we wanted to have a house of our own before starting to grow our family. So once we closed on the house last summer, the conversation naturally picked up again but I’ve always envisioned having kids after I turned 30 which meant I didn’t think it was going to happen just yet, especially within a month of finally moving in to our new home (November). While I was in no way opposed to the idea, I basically like to say that we were “not not trying”, if you know what I mean.

It may sound crazy or maybe it doesn’t, but I knew I was pregnant even before I took the test to confirm. My body started showing subtle signs like boobs feeling really tender and then cramping when I’m normally not much of a cramper at all. I also noticed that Zeus was hanging around me way more than he normally does and acting more protective than usual. Then of course there was the tell-tale sign of a late/missed period. Once that happened, I decided it was time to actually get a pregnancy test. Chris had been feeling sick on that particular weekend so I actually waited one day longer to take it, just in hopes of him feeling better. After all of that, I finally took the test and the stick basically yelled PREGNANT the instant I peed on it (sorry if that’s TMI, haha). I think I may have low key blacked out after that but I just remember feeling an overwhelming sense of joy.

I was so excited to tell Chris that I didn’t even stop and try to think of some cute way to surprise him or present the news - I just ran down to the kitchen and practically waved the stick in his face. From that moment on, we knew our lives would be forever changed and we are so excited to meet our little one come August 2021 ♥

I feel so humbled and blessed by this experience already. I’m looking forward to sharing more of my journey and connecting with all of you current mamas and future mamas-to-be. If you took the time to read this, please feel free to share any words of advice and/or questions you may have in the comments below or reach out to me directly. I’d love to hear from you!
