Fell off the blog train for a week or two but here I am again — back with a quick check in! I’ve been continuing to work on our homeschool plans as school officially starts for us in just three months. I’ve found a few different courses that I’m leaning towards (including this Pre-K Spanish curriculum) but am eager to meet our homeschool teacher in July and be able to pick their brain / get further recommendations as well.
In the meantime, I bought this cute little teaching planner and am excited to start filling it out with field trips, weekly and monthly content, and more! I also bought a few of these magazine holders to better organize and store our various lesson books, worksheets and coloring pages.
Through some homeschooling research and knowing what already works well for our family schedule (which I talk more about here), I’ve put together what I plan for our first year of homeschool with one TK (4 year old) and one preschooler (2 year old) to look like:
7:00AM - Wake up / Morning routine (breakfast, get dressed, ready for the day)
8:00AM - Circle time, morning lesson and storytime/reading
9:00AM - Get out of the house (park, field trip, activity/errand)
11:00AM - Lunch time, clean up, free play
12:00PM - Crafts, clean up, nap and/or quiet time
2:00PM - Afternoon lesson and storytime/reading
3:00PM - Outdoor and sensory play, backyard, water table
4:00PM - Water and work in garden, prep and cook dinner
5:00PM - Dinner time and dishes
6:00PM - Walk, scooter, bike, outside
7:00PM - Start bedtime routine (bath, PJs, brush teeth etc)
I’ve also been sorting out our summer plans including swim lessons, our next family camping trip, and how I fully intend to utilize grandparents to catch some time for myself (to work / workout / just catch a break). Stay tuned!
